Web Sifter  is a DLL that allows your program to suck information off of anyone's web page - all automatically and all programatically.  For example, let's say you had someone's phone number and you want to get their name.  Why buy a database when it's already out there on the web?  You can use Web Sifter from your application with a single function call from virtually any programming language.

Web Sifter

Get valuable data off someone else's web page.

What is Web Sifter?

WebSifter is the first product of it's kind to allow the Web of the Internet to be sifted into useful data. This product allows you to have constantly changing live data directly linked from the Web of the Internet into your application as you create it. WebSifter is totally configurable and can be setup to sift any web page data into usable information for linking to your applications. It is designed for Visual Basic programmers to use WebSifter to obtain information from the Internet and use it in their programs. For example, if you wanted to get the daily stock reports, but are sick of constantly going day after day to the same website, WebSifter correctly defined, will automatically go to the web site, get the HTML source code, take what you want from it and return it to your computer. So every day you can look up the stock reports without ever having to go to your Internet browser! It’s actually faster than going to your Internet Browser because WebSifter doesn’t load pictures and other unimportant data; it just sifts through the HTML code and sends back the information to your computer. No ads! Here’s a list of examples that you could use for WebSifter.

bulletSearch for all businesses listed under the name "burger king"
bulletSearch PeopleFinder for all persons named "Joe bozo"
bulletShow the current US Dollar value compared to other world currencies
bulletShow the current US Dollar value compared to the German Mark only:
bulletShow companies with stock symbols matching the name "Microsoft"
bulletShow the current value of the stock ticker symbol for Netscape from CNN

bulletShow all TV Guide listings featuring Jay Leno
bulletCorrect our postal address with the US Postal Service server

bulletShow the temperatures in Phoenix AZ

These are just some examples of how WebSifter can get information off the Internet. It is perfectly configurable, so you can get whatever information you want off the Internet. It’s a gold mine.

How it works:

  1. Your program makes a simple function call to WebSifter() from the WEBSFT32.DLL. This is a standard windows DLL - so it can be called from just about any programming language.
  2. The WebSifter() function reads the configuration file (CFG file) for information on what it is to do. In the CFG file, you define what URL (Web Page) to retrieve off the internet.
  3. WebSifter() reaches across the internet and retrieves the page.
  4. WebSifter then "sifts" through the page and finds the precious nuggets of data from the HTML code. It creates a flat file of rows and columns for you to use.
